Overview

Project Braveheart was conceived to blend physical challenge with spiritual growth. Based at a cosy lodge near Fort William, the group enjoyed 5‑star halal catering, daily Islamic reminders, and seamless transport between activities.

From dawn til dusk the Highlands gave us sweeping vistas, mist‑kissed lochs, and the perfect backdrop for strengthening iman and camaraderie.

The Climb

Day 2 was summit day. We set out before sunrise, head‑torches bobbing along the Pony Track. A steady pace, frequent dhikr breaks, and a weather window that opened just long enough to grant a cloud‑free summit at 1 345 m.

For many, this was a first mountain; for all, it was a lesson in sabr and teamwork. A joint takbeer echoed across the cairn before a safe descent and well‑earned venison‑free feast back at base.

I came for the climb, but I left with a tribe. Between the naseeha around the campfire and that final push to the summit, I felt my physical, mental, and spiritual limits expand.

Summary

In 72 hours we covered 17 km of mountain trails, fired 300 arrows, raced ATVs through heathered moorland, and laughed harder than we have in months. More than an itinerary, Braveheart became a reset button—reminding us why the Prophet ﷺ sought solitude in nature and why brotherhood is forged in shared hardship.

The Good

Logistics ran flawlessly—transport, five‑star halal meals, and equipment were handled for us—while daily Islamic reminders deepened the experience, an inclusive pace ensured nobody was left behind on the trail, and bonus activities such as archery, quad‑biking, and stargazing created lasting memories of brotherhood.

The Bad

Persistent midges at lower elevations tested our patience even with strong repellent, a delayed coach on Day 1 trimmed our orientation time, and fickle Scottish weather treated us to horizontal rain minutes after our brief window of summit sunshine.
